Miscellaneous Android Apps

These are some fun or interesting apps which don't fit well into the other categories.

App developers sometimes add or change or remove features, so there might be slight discrepancies between my descriptions (below) and the current versions of some apps.

Akinator the Genie FREE by Elokence (free) - Think of a famous character (real or fictional), then answer Akinator's questions. He's often able to guess who you're thinking of. In the free version of the app he'll only tell you his guess if it's a popular character, but you can play the full version on the Internet at Akinator.

Band of the Day by Applauze (free) - Spotlights one new artist or band every day, with selected songs, videos, photographs, biographies, and so on, across many different genres. Tap any day on the calendar to see previously spotlighted artists or bands.

Card Tricks by VeOs (free) - A collection of card tricks. I haven't read the descriptions of all of the tricks, so I don't know if they're all "clean" and family-friendly. For more magic tricks, see Magic Card Tricks (below).

Flowpaper Free by Diatom Studio (free) - Draw swirling, flowing patterns with your finger. The longer you keep your finger on the screen, the more the pattern will "grow."

Funscience by Edu Apps (free) - A collection of science tricks. I haven't read the descriptions of all of the experiments, so I don't know if they're all "clean" and family-friendly. For more science tricks, see Kids Science Experiments (below) and Scam School (below).

Get Your Apps Free by 42matters AG (free) - Provides recommendations of new apps based on your existing apps. Also see Playboard Best App&Game Review (below).

How to Make Paper Airplanes by Mobilicos (free) - Describes how to make a number of paper airplanes, some of which can fly and some of which are simply origami models of planes. On the initial screen, tap the "Lessons" button, then tap "Flying Models" or "Stationary Models." Tap the name of a plane to see an animated explanation of how to fold a piece of paper to make the plane (use the arrow keys to go to the next or previous step). Tap "Download More" to see a list of more planes that you can download (for free, I believe). If you prefer not to download numerous animated videos then take a look at Paper Airplanes, which has simple drawings for making a few paper airplanes. Another app is How to Make Paper Airplanes, which makes it easy to watch numerous YouTube videos on making paper airplanes (the categories are: How to make paper airplane gliders, How to make paper airplanes that fly far, How to make paper airplanes that fly for a long time, and How to make paper airplanes that come back to you).

Kids Science Experiments by MWorld (free) - A collection of science experiments for kids. For more science tricks, see Funscience (above) and Scam School (below).

Magic Card Tricks by montysmagic (free) - A collection of card tricks. I haven't read the descriptions of all of the tricks, so I don't know if they're all "clean" and family-friendly. For more magic tricks, see Card Tricks (above).

Playboard Best App&Game Review by 42matters AG (free) - Provides a list of Hot Apps and Hot Games and Just-In Apps and Just-In Games, and so on, to help you find new apps and games. Also see Get Your Apps Free (above).

Scam School by Discovery Digital Networks (free) - A collection of videos showing various "bar tricks." The idea is that you can win some money in a bar by betting people that you can do impossible-sounding tricks. However, these tricks can also be done just for fun at home. I haven't watched all of the videos, so I don't know if they're all "clean" and family-friendly. For more science tricks, see Funscience (above) and Kids Science Experiments (above).

TV Show Favs by MKDevelopment (free) - Allows you to maintain a list of your favorite TV shows. For each show you can see the air dates and episode titles for the current season and all of the past seasons. You can see when the next episode will air or when the next season will begin, or see if the show has been canceled. You can also get cast information.

YoTricks: YoYo Trick Videos by Archaic Software (free) - A collection of videos showing various yoyo tricks. I haven't watched all of the videos, so I don't know if they're all "clean" and family-friendly. For more yoyo tricks, see YOYO tricks with videos (below).

YOYO tricks with videos by bunsin (free) - A collection of videos showing various yoyo tricks. I haven't watched all of the videos, so I don't know if they're all "clean" and family-friendly. For more yoyo tricks, see YoTricks: YoYo Trick Videos (above).
